Camp Erin for Grieving Children

It should come as no surprise to anyone that children need special consideration in their dealing with death. Those  special needs are addressed at Camp Erin, a national outreach of the Moyer Foundation.

This year’s Camp Erin Pittsburgh,  hosted by Good Samaritan Hospice, The Moyer Foundation, and YMCA Camp Kon-O-Kwee, was held north of the city on June 9-11.

There were 101 campers this year, 66 of whom attended for the first time. The children ranged from ages six to seventeen.

The web posting for Pittsburgh’s camp, with lots of pictures can be found here.

You can learn more about the special needs of grieving children in this web site right here. In the mind of a child, a personal loss is even more complex that it is for an adult. If you know of a child experiencing the loss of death, take a little time to see hat you can do for them.
